In this session, you will learn:

·        How to define what accountability really is (and what it isn’t).

Please Help Hunger Task Force

Hunger Task Force has been operating over the past two years in a state of emergency as food demand rises unabated with no relief in the near future.  The damage caused by the recent flooding to some of our areas of greatest need, coupled with the loss of two of our highest volume food pantries serving those areas, has exacerbated the situation. They project shortfalls of breakfast cereal, dinner starch (pasta, rice), canned vegetables, and milk.  The cost of purchasing supplies of these essential foods to meet the demand is over $100,000.

Two of the highest volume partner food pantries in our network, the Jewish Community Center Pantry and the All Saints Community Food Pantry were destroyed in the flood and will be closed indefinitely.  The JCC pantry served over 1,500 clients per month on average and All Saints served 1,000 people per month at pantry and 1,500 per month at meal program.  All Saints lost over their entire inventory of food, a commercial freezer a residential refrigerator and must spend thousands of dollars in fees towards clean up and mold abatement.  The JCC Pantry actually experienced a total loss, with over $15,000 in infrastructure and food storage equipment, over $15,000 of food, as well as the facility itself. They have been forced to abandon their facility.  These losses leave two gaping holes in our food security net.

As members of NACE we can help. We are collecting donations this month to help the Hunger Task Force. All member donations will be matched by our NACE chapter, dollar for dollar up to $250. Please help. You can make a donation online when you register or place your donation in the box we'll have at the meeting. Thank you.
