Spring Campaign Q&A

Question: If a member leaves a facility and moves to another company, will they qualify for the spring campaign?

Answer: Whoever pays for the membership, keeps it. If the company paid for the membership, then the member who leaves will qualify for the campaign because they are now purchasing a membership either with a new company or on their own.

Question: How will prospects know about the campaign if they visit the website?

Answer: The spring campaign brochure will be posted to the home page of the website starting March 22 and will remain there for the duration of the campaign.

Question: Can the prospect mail a check for the spring campaign and if so, what should be included?

Answer: If the prospect would like to pay by check, please have them fill out the attached application and mail it along with the check to NACE, 9891 Broken Land Parkway, Ste. 301, Columbia, MD 21046. In order for a membership to be processed, we need the payment and application on file. Without a payment, the person will be marked as a prospect until further notice.

Question: How will we know our standings during the campaign?

Answer: We will send out two email updates to all chapter presidents and membership chairs during the campaign with your current standings.

Board Member Spotlight

Julie Clemins is currently employed as the social sales and event manager for Ovation Catering, the exclusive caterer for the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and Hampton Inn and Suites Downtown Milwaukee.  She has been involved in the special events industry since 1997 and has had the pleasure of working in the catering side of the event industry for 8 years.  She first became involved in NACE when she moved to Phoenix, Arizona at the end of 2005.  While living in Arizona, she worked as a sales manager for BBJ Linen and had the pleasure of being an active member of the Phoenix NACE chapter which hosted the 2006 NACE Experience!, NACE’s national educational conference.  She returned to Wisconsin in 2008 and has been an employee of Ovation Catering since her return.

When asked what she likes best about our industy she said, "I love the opportunity to meet new people every day.  Every event is unique and I feel blessed to be involved in the planning and execution of so many people’s special events."

NACE has helped Julie develop both business and personal connections with peers in the special event industry.  By developing these connections, she has seen business increase for the companies she has been employed by.  The educational opportunities that NACE offers both on a local chapter level and on a national level has helped her keep up to date in an ever changing industry.

Like many of us, Julie loves the support and respect that NACE members have for each other.  "I always feel like I can reach out to a fellow NACE member for advice and support when dealing with a challenging situation.  This camaraderie is priceless when working in an industry filled with last minute requests and changes from clients."

As secretary for the chapter, Julie is responsible for maintaining the records for the chapter.  This includes keeping minutes for board meetings as well as keeping a chapter scrapbook of events.  She also sends out personalized thank you notes to those who donate their time and services for the events that chapter hosts.  As treasurer for the chapter, she is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the chapter.  This includes submitting monthly treasurer’s reports to the local board as well as to NACE National.

When asked her favorite food is, Julie says this is an impossible question for a food-lover to answer.  "I love food in general and always am up for trying something new.  Right now I am craving mashed potatoes and gravy…..but that might be because I saw the chef whipping them up this morning for a catering luncheon."

Julie loves travel, both in the US and internationally.  She enjoys experiencing the art, music, food and drink of other cultures.  In the US she has a personal goal of visiting every National Park in my lifetime. Julie also loves animals and if she ever leaves the hospitality and special events industry it will be to pursue a career in animal welfare.
Thanks Julie for all of your help and support of NACE and our chapter. Your purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect.
